Snapping at food

Hello all!

Recently my baby corn snake has started to really snap at her food, taking it within seconds (usually less!) of offering her the food! I don't think it's because she's hungry because we've just moved up a size on the food and she gets fed regularly. Is there any particular reason for this?

Thanks for your help!! :wavey:

Some of mine did this when I would move them up in prey size. I don't know why they did it, but it apparently isn't that uncommon.

I would agree... I recently moved up to small hoppers and my corn went nuts.

I think a good analogy would be us having prime rib or fillet mignon set in front of us. I'm going to eat up.

They snap because that's how they catch prey. The snake probably thought the food was alive, for whatever reason.

If you had no arms or legs and thought your dinner was gonna get away, you would snap too.
