Snow mixed with Butter?

First let me say I am new to all of this so please excuse anything that I say wrong. :) I have a male Snow. When I got him from the breeder they told me he could have some Butter as well. So I am wondering if the best way to know if he does have Butter is to breed him with a Butter? And could anyone tell me how I should word that as I don't think Snow mixed with Butter is correct. lol

Thanks!

April

If your snow (amel+anery) is indeed het for caramel, then breeding with a butter (amel+caramel) would give you the chance of producing butters het anery and amels het for anery and caramel. If you find a butter het for anery then you could produce butters, snows, and amels. I would try to find a butter het for anery, so even if your snow turns out not to be het for caramel you'll still get snows and amels het for caramel. Always better to add and extra gene. If you bred the snow to a butter that isn't het for anery, you'd just get amels het for caramel and anery.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll be out looking for a Butter het for anery then. Know of anyone selling one. lol jk

Too funny tricksterpup, sounds like something my bf would have said. :)

Oh he's only a year old, so it'll be awhile so I'll have time to look. And of course if I end up with a baby female then even longer. I'm in no big hurry as I really need to learn alot more about these great snakes before I get into breeding. Is there anyway of just looking at a snake to see if it's even possible to have Butter? Here is a pic of my male just in case.

Thanks!

I have Butter Snows and as hatchlings & yearlings it is hard to tell, but as they mature the saddles get a yellow coloration to them. They look a lot like regular snows, but instead of pink and cream color shades the saddles have yellow shades. Most other snows merely have yellow on the sides and near the head.

Here are some pics of my breeder female for you.

Notice the large amount of yellow ringing the saddle edges.

Gorgeous snake!

I guess I'll be looking for awhile, I've contacted two breeders and neither one have or will have a Butter het for anery anytime in the future. Oh well. Not too big of a deal. :)

Thanks for the replies!
