Snow Shedding- Day by Day

AliCat37

Michelle's Candied Corns!
I see this question come up all the time- How do you know when your snow is about to shed? They are much lighter than other morphs, so it is a bit difficult to tell, but you CAN do it! Surprisingly, it is much easier to do in person than in the pictures. I can always tell when Amethyst is about to shed, she just looks "off". So I decided to start taking pics of her this last go around when I noticed her seeming off color. I hope this thread helps others wondering how to tell. Amethyst is a bit of an odd colored snow, but hopefully you can get the idea!! This is going to be a total of TEN posts of pics (I'm actually uploading them to the site so they don't get taken down from pic sharing sites), so please wait to post replies until they are up. Thanks!

DAY 0 - Not in blue yet.

I had to laugh, I have a picture of one of my snows against a bg with purple flowers that is almost identical to the picture in your first post. For a second I was like 0-0 "my picture? Wait, no..."

Your snow is lovely, and thanks for illustrating their shed cycle so clearly.

DAY 9- New skin!!

This is the last post, hope that this can help someone in the future.. I know it is difficult to see the minute differences, but you really will be able to tell when your snow is in shed, just takes a little more attention than with other morphs!

Hahaha! Nah, I'm not the one to be stealing pics without asking :)
And thanks, I wish I had thought to take belly pics everyday, but the thought never crossed my mind till mid way through the cycle.

thanks for sharing! these lighter colored snakes are hard to tell when they're going to shed...when kiyo first shed i didn't realize she was in blue and took her out to feed her...looked at her and said "woah she's going to shed soon" and put her back. she was definately dull and her little pink eyes were clouded over.

Thank you so much for sharing! I am Nana to my son's snow, Parker. I have always tried to watch his eyes but very rarely have I seen them change the way your pictures have shown. I will be more observant in the future..
