So cats keep mice away. how about snakes?

Personally, I wouldn't let any of my own snakes loose to become mousers, but I bet having snakes around might decrease a mouse population. I have some friends who had a corn snake escape over a year ago, and they recently told me that they have noticed that they don't have a mouse problem like they used to.

Like Wendy said, I wouldn't let it loose, but you could try scattering the shed skins around the perimeter and garage of your home if you like. At the very worst it does nothing, eh?

Speaking of this one time a friend called me 'the crazy snake lady' instead of the crazy cat lady. I immediately said "crazy snake lady, crazy cat lady, either way you won't have mice." ;)

But really on that note we once had a mouse living in the snake room, so I don't think the smell really does much.

lol no i didnt mean im gonna have her running around the house when i said this. cats keep mice away from their poop smell.
do snakes have smells or certain characteristics that would keep mice away?
