So, does this mean she's gravid???

My snake is gaining weight fast, can't really feel bumps anymore, and she's about to shed. Two weeks ago she was put with the male and I have no clue if they mated or not. Are all of these tell tale signs that she is gravid??? :shrugs:

By put with a male, what do you mean?

Was she left with him for hours or weeks, did you see a semen spill, do you think she'd ovulated before you put them together?

Give us some more details...dates even.

Well, I put her in with my male 00 Sunglow for a week. Their bedding is wood chips and I never saw any definitve semen stains, but I did see some wet spots so I have no idea. They were in the same cage approximatley two weeks ago, can't remember dates. She's a few days away from shedding, her eyes r still milky and she's gaining weight but I can't feel the bumps that I did before.

Could be

I'm still new to the whole prego snake thing, but my female just double-clutched (13 eggs today, WOOHOO... sorry, a little excited tonight, hehe) and the 2nd time around, I felt the bumps early on, but then they seemed to fade away the closer she got. Almost to the point where I started to wonder if she really was gonna have another clutch. Once she shed though, that told me my first thoughts were likely correct, and she layed 8 days later. Good luck if she is gravid

On that kind of time frame I don't think we can say for sure that she's gravid. When I introduce pairs, I leave them together for up to 10 days the first time on plain news paper. If nothing happens, they get split up for a week (absence makes the heart grow hornier!) and then tried together again, rinse, repeat.

I had one pair that took 6 weeks to get around to mating and another pair where the female constantly rejected the male so after 5 weeks I substituted him for another male and then she decided she was ready to mate the minute male #2 hit the ground!

I like to see 3 'spills' on the paper before I'm satisfied that a good fertilisation has occurred.
