So I held my baby corn snake for the first time tonight.

:D It was awesome, but unfortunately I had to chase him around the cage a bit. I know that isn't good do that and what not but otherwise there would be no way I would get him in my hand. He was really jumpy and he didn't chill out too much when he was away from his cage. I hope he tames quickly.

I just thought I would tell you guys. :)

That's cool. :) Make sure to have a lock on his tank! I've found my jumpy babies try to escape much more often than their tame siblings.

Try cuddling him up to your chest, in your closed hand, rather than letting him dangle around. And if you know where he's hiding, the faster you can scoop him out without chasing him, the calmer he will be, initially.

Good advice ^

After you have located him, make sure you aren't going at him with two fingers using the "pincher method" at first, he will feel more secure if you cup your hand over him, and scoop him from underneath :)

Congrats on holding your baby!

I find that you have to chase them around if you're in there for a long time searching around for them. Baby corn snakes have short tempers. Usually mine is pretty chill when I simply pick up her hide and then scoop her up. Then she just sits in my hand for a bit and looks around before trying to explore. They tame down quickly.

just make sure that he calms down before you put him back into his tank. otherwise he will learn that thrashing/trying to escape gets him put back, and he will be harder to hold.

and congrats! :D
