Ok, so tomorrow morning my corn snake is due to arrive. I ordered a UTH online and UPS hasn't gotten it to my house yet. My question is: is it ok for my corn snake to not have a UTH for a little while?

I'm hoping that the delivery will come tomorrow from UPS, but I'm not sure. The temp in my viv is an average of 75 degrees F. So if the UTH doesnt come by the morning, should I go out after my snake comes and I get her in the viv and get a UTH from the local petstore (I'm assuming they have them) right away?

I'm not sure whether or not UPS will get the supplies I ordered by tomorrow or if it may take even longer. So I'm just concerned because I dont want my corn to not have the aproppriate heating if it's going to be really bad or risky. But my mom doesnt really want to spend the extra cash to get something that could come in the mail later in the day.

Thanks in advance ;)

The snake should be fine for a day or two. The bigger issue will be setting up the UTH and making sure it is not too hot. You might want to put your snake in another container for 24 hours while you make sure the UTH does not get too hot.

You will also need to wait to feed your new snake. I would wait for at least 3 days after the snake is back in the tank with the UTH.

Good Luck.

75 degrees is just fine as long as you don't feed him/her. It's best not to feed them anyway the first 5 days they are in their new home so it will work out just fine. :)

Thank you guys. I wasnt planning on feeding her for 4-5 days anyway, so she had time to settle and not risk regurge.

I agree about putting her in another container while I set up the heater and get everything in check. I also ordered 2 carrier containers as well as a thermostat and a few other supplies. So I'll be able to house her somewhere else while I make sure that the temperature is safe and under control in her viv.

If the UTH and the rest of the stuff I ordered doesnt come tomorrow, I'll probably just get another so she can get set up and comfortable as well as it's probably not that bad of an idea to have a spare, just in case.

I feel less worried now lol, thank you again. I'll post pics of her when I can tomorrow.

I tend to agree with Carol and would wait 5 days before feeding your new snake...as well remember that during that 5 days you want to basically leave it alone...no handling..as little disturbing as possible..so that it can de-stress from move and settle in with as little stress as possible. It is the initial stress of the move, new home and to much handling while settling in, that can often make the first feed or two not happen, or be very difficult.:)
