some quick questions

I have a 2 year old corn who is in a verly long tank and I have 3 identical hide(one on each side and onw in the middle) I have a big peice of driftwood and a lot of plactic plants for him to explore in (I have all that stuff cause I didnt want him to get too overwhelmed by the size of his tank :)) annnnyways is it ok if I have the UTH in the middle ? I dont see why this would be an issue cause the 2 sides are cooler and the middles the warm side but you never know (I already have the UTH here because I had a divider in the tank before)

Anywho, my more important question is my poor baby has some loose skin on his head. I dont know how to explain it really but his last shed was in one peice and the eyes and tp of the tail came off and the head but now he has some 'skin' sticking up almost like if we have dry skin thats 'peeling' sort of? It sticks up a little bit? It not a scale or anything :S
Ive tried soaking him and using a cloth to gently rub it off a bit but I didnt tr too hard or anything cause I dont know if its supposed to come off:s normal or not? :(

The usual setup is to have the UTH at one end, covering about one-third of the floor of the tank. This gives hot, warm and cool zones that they can move around in.

If you put the UTH in the middle, then you could end up with one hot and two warm zones and no cool zone. Check the temps in various places on the floor of your current setup with a digital thermometer and see if it gives the necessary temperature range.

As for the loose skin, it probably should come off, but you're right not to try and force the issue. If you pull and it's stuck fast, you can end up damaging the new scales underneath. Try giving him a humid hide in one of the warm zones and see if he spends time inside - it's kinda like giving them a sauna and helps loosen stubborn stuck sheds.

In that case, I'd leave the scrap of loose skin alone as long as it isn't around the eyes or nostrils. When he next goes blue, put the humid hide in with him before he sheds, so that the old layer is as moist as possible. With luck, the stuck scrap will come away with the next shed.

It's not ideal, but if you can't loosen it then I think it's best to leave it for the moment.

Hopefully someone else can chip in and offer more advice.
