Soon to be corn owner with a few questions

I'm fairly new at owning a snake and i have most of my research done.I have what I need tohouse my new corn and keep him warm and happy. I would like to know the following:
What can I expect when I first bring my new corn home?
When do I start feeding him after I bring him home?
How soon should I start to build trust/handle my snake?
Is it ok to have my pet betta next to my snakes tank?
(my betta is an open bowl)

I just though I should get these answers from experenced corn owners. ^^;
Thanks everyone!

Thanks! I never noticed that was on Kathy's site.
The only thing I didn't have an answer to is weither or not to keep my betta next to the tank. ^^;

Just don't get upset when you don't see your snake for a few weeks. He'll hide in the substrate for a while and come out more often in time.
