I have wanted a Corn since I was 11 years old or so. Life circumstances prevented that from being a reality. The most recent 'circumstance' is that my wife hates snakes.
After years of off handed comments that I was just going to bring one home, she surprised me this Christmas by picking me up a 6 year old corn that was on the local Facebook classifieds. I was shocked and very happy.
I have had very little experience with snakes so this is all a learning experience for me and my family. When the snake first arrived my 7 year old, Amelia, was very unsure about her but now she can't get enough. The other two kids, 13 and 5, like her but are mostly indifferent. I drive truck and am away during the week, so Amelia will be my designated handler.
Even my wife is warming up to snake ownership. She posted some pics on Facebook of her holding the snake and I found it shocking how many people were simply disgusted at the idea.
I've had her for just under two weeks and I think we are getting used to each other. Before, I would just let her out for about 15 minutes until I thought she looked uncomfortable. Last night, she went in my sweater and stayed for like an hour. It made me very happy.
Sorry about the crummy photos, I will attempt to take better ones after I read the forum on the subject.
This is Tangle, hanging out in my sweater last night.
Amelia and Tangle
Me and my darling
The look of acceptance? Fear?
