I have wanted a Corn since I was 11 years old or so. Life circumstances prevented that from being a reality. The most recent 'circumstance' is that my wife hates snakes.

After years of off handed comments that I was just going to bring one home, she surprised me this Christmas by picking me up a 6 year old corn that was on the local Facebook classifieds. I was shocked and very happy.

I have had very little experience with snakes so this is all a learning experience for me and my family. When the snake first arrived my 7 year old, Amelia, was very unsure about her but now she can't get enough. The other two kids, 13 and 5, like her but are mostly indifferent. I drive truck and am away during the week, so Amelia will be my designated handler.

Even my wife is warming up to snake ownership. She posted some pics on Facebook of her holding the snake and I found it shocking how many people were simply disgusted at the idea.

I've had her for just under two weeks and I think we are getting used to each other. Before, I would just let her out for about 15 minutes until I thought she looked uncomfortable. Last night, she went in my sweater and stayed for like an hour. It made me very happy.

Sorry about the crummy photos, I will attempt to take better ones after I read the forum on the subject.

This is Tangle, hanging out in my sweater last night.

Welcome and congratulations !
What will happen now is your wife will get hooked and you'll be begging her to stop buying every snake that comes along !:grin01:
:santa:

PS; I have a separate Facebook page for my reptiles. Got tired of all the EEWWwwwwweeeesss and Gross !! postings.

What a great way to get a snake! Welcome!

I have a picture of someone who hates snakes, holding on of my littler ones, and her expression is very similar to your wife's. It's always nice to hear that someone got over their fear, even if it's just a little.

hello and welcome from a fellow Ontarian!

what an awesome story of how you and Tangle came to meet! and your daughter looks very happy to have her too! :)

feel free to ask any questions on here, big or small, someone will always help!

Great story, and welcome. The coolest thing is the team-building you'll have with Amelia over this snake, and also that you took in an older snake who may otherwise have been overlooked in favor of a cute baby. Congrats, and great job.

My first corn!!

I finally got my first corn snake! I'm pretty excited about him. His name is Cornelius. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats OP (original poster)! Lovely snake.
Off topic, but your wife is beautiful :)

Best of luck!

She can be a jerky jerk. I thought it was adorable that Tangle was playing on my home made blutooth stereo, until...

Bahaha!!! What a stinker! Adorable though, congrats! What a great wife, but I agree she may just get hooked and fill the house with corns! I feel like filling my house with corns and I just got mine like 5 days ago...
