I tried a search and haven't heard of anyone doing this before, and wanted to get some thoughts.
One of my other hobbies is homebrewing beer. Sanitation is a huge part of the brewing process. There's all sorts of little critters that would love to get into your unfermented beer!
My sanitizing product of choice is called StarSan. Homebrewers can use bleach, however it requires rinsing and can contribute off-flavors to beer. A solution of StarSan can be mixed and kept in a spray bottle. It is a no-rinse food safe sanitizer. Here's a quick link describing the product: http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/star-san.html
**Disclaimer: No affiliation to the linked site here. I thought it gives a pretty good description of the product.
Anywho, does this look like something that could be used in place of bleach in our enclosures? Spraying it on, then wiping it dry would be a heck of a lot easier than rinsing off bleach solution.
The other thought that came to mind was the difference between disinfection and sanitizing. This site gives a pretty clear breakdown of the difference: http://www.hillyard.com/ProductsServices/UniversityofHillyard/Disvsant.htm
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
