Hi guys I'm really sorry but I haven't been using a thermostat or a humidity stat at all for either of my corn snakes :(
Please don't get angry with me I need your help to fix my mistakes :)
I was wondering how to work them and what's the best brand?
Once again I'm really sorry and I'm going to start using them now :)

Over this side of the Atlantic, I use Habistat Mat Stats with (mainly) Ultratherm heatmats. That setup's always worked nicely for me.

You plug the stat into the mains. Put the mat where you need it to be. The stat has a plug socket that you plug the mat into. You place the stat probe on the floor of the tank/viv, immediately over the mat. Measure the temp of the floor with a digital or infra-red thermometer and turn the stat up or down until it's right (I aim for around 85 max).

Then it's set up and you just need to double-check the temp now and again, to make sure the stat and mat are working properly. I've only had 2 stats fail on me in 20 years, so that's not a bad record.
