K I know snakes are really sensitive to base and vibrations, but how much is to much and do they like it or dislike it? right now my viv is in the livingroom, where my stereo is as well and with the subs on there is ALOT of base. i havn't truned them on since i've gotten her so i don't know how she'll react.

hmmm well i have my stero on somtimes with death metal... all my snake dose is poke his head out like you angry apartment neighber douse when you have the radio on load...
but i kinda think he likes it

It's good that you're asking this question cos it shows you care...

We tune our environment to suit ourselves and then for the most part expect our animals to put up with whatever we decide. A snake has (by definition) no external ears so it doesn't hear sound like we do, instead it feels vibrations through its environment. It wouldn't be a good idea to have your stereo right up, especially for long periods. In the time we've kept snakes we of course have had parties, but the snakes get popped into plastic boxes and put in the bedroom (usually quiet in there) or sent downstairs to our neighbours (who are usually at our party anyway!) place for the night so they don't have to deal with it. Some people hypothesise that it's like how if you live next to a large train station, you eventually ignore the noise for the most part, but wouldn't it be better to not risk it?? Stress can manifest itself in many ways....just something to think about.

Im not sure but...

I heard once in a book that if you put somthing like styrofoam or a mousepad underneath the tank then it will absorb the viberations better and wont bother your snake as much
