I witnessed my 2 corns who I thought was both females lock up on February 24 and again after that... I separate them and she hasn't eaten in 4weeks now she shed on March 14 and there's a lay box which she is in and out of all day... still pretty active and when I take her out I can feel lumps as she slithers through my hand... she feels "crispy" like she's gonna shed again... I know it could take upto 2weeks which will be Thursday how long after that should I be worried... this is my first expirence with this... I do have an incubator ready and took her big water dish out and put a much smaller one in... any comments and helpful hints are appreciated

Similar situation here...

2/9/13 First lock (evidence confirmed)
2/16/13 2nd lock (evidence confirmed)
3/15/13 Pre-lay Shed

today...11 days post shed...no eggs...

I'm not worried..... If I were to worry...it would be that the pairing didn't take.

I'd leave her be...the less stress the better.

You may try to feed her something WAY smaller than her normal meal.

Sometimes they eat...Sometimes they don't.

yes they are both in their own tank... my niece didn't have time for them any more so I was happy to take them for her, she had gotten them from a friend who has had them since baby. They get along great they've always been together, so I left it as they were... until I seen some wild movement that I hadn't seen before I took pics so she would believe me lol... I don't know how much she weighs but I know their both a little over 3 years old... I just don't what to expect and when to worry... I've been reading as much as possible to learn about the process

Is it good to take her out and let her wonder? I've read you should, I also read to soak her in warm water which I did try to do yesterday and she didn't want anything to do with the water

Room temp water...not warm. It's good for exercise, but probably too late at this point.

Agreed....At this point...if she's Gravid....she'll be laying by the weekend.

exercising her at this point is just additional stress.

As I said before....

Offer her a small meal...if she takes...Great.... if not....don't sweat it...

But most importantly....Leave her be...so she can do her business....if there is

business to be done.

No Handling!!!

ok I will let her be... thank you all for the advice... I will definately post pics if she does... she usually is in her hide away rock but since she shed and I put the lay box in that's where she goes if she's not out climbing the walls...lol I am hoping she is gravid and lays good eggs me and my kids are excited for the experience

She laid her first egg tonight around 7... she then left her box for a while and now has returned to her box no more eggs yet but I know it will take time... question though the vermiculite I bought looks different its like a sand and from what I've seen online its more corse will the kind I have work and if not where do I buy it? Thank you again everyone who has given me advice

I don't know about the vermiculite, but it's not uncommon for the female to lay an egg or two the day before the rest of the clutch. I would leave her STRICTLY alone, now.

I would consider making her a more appealing lay box. I have a thread down in my personal forum about that. I'm not saying she isn't laying, or is trying not to lay, because she doesn't approve of your box, but she could be...

I don't use vermiculite, but I believe you can buy it in a garden store, but you need to make sure it doesn't have chemicals or anything in it. I use HatchRite to incubate the eggs, (with a light layer of sphagnum moss from the lay box on top). There's an active thread right now about what is the best incubation medium, and there are a lot of different favorites.

She still hasn't laid anymore eggs but u can see she still has some should I be worried? I put zilla jungle mix in her lay box... last night she stayed under the substrate on the other end of the tank she finally made it to her box and has been in and out of it most of the day
