Kiona is still not eating, but she's having BM's, so I'm guessing that means she's still digesting her last meal, even though that was at least two months ago? She looks a bit small to me, but I know she was a little over weight last time I saw her because my stepdad was feeding her too much. Grrr. Anyway, any suggestions/answers? :)

How old is your snake. An adult snake can go for quite a while without eatting and this is the time snakes tend to hungerstrike.

Toss a live one to her and see if she is interested!

If she is a full adult and has been eating F/T her whole life this may not be the best idea as she may aquire a taste for live plus as she has had no problem with F/T for years why would it change now?

However if you do decide to do this please ensure to stun the mouse before tossing it into the cage. Also don't leave your snake unattended with a live mouse.

So what is the best way to stun a mouse?

I am having a similar problem with my corn, she/he has stopped eating the dead mice I give him/her about 6 weeks ago, but did manage to get her/him to eat a couple of hoppers last week. She/he is 38+ inches long so I do not think a few hoppers are going to satisfy for long.

Any help appreciated

Richard

I feed live hopper to my tree boas because the movement is what entices them and, from what I understand, hoppers don't have teeth yet. Whenever I feed live with teeth, they get stunned but with my guys there is something about a live one that will get them interested in eating. So far I have had no problems with any of them going back to f/t. But, yes, live unstunned mouse - do not leave them unattended because the mouse will fight back.

Sometimes I forget to say the obvious.

Try giving her a f/t mouse dipped in a beaten egg or chicken brooth. Worked for my girl. She went on strike just before breeding and didn't eat until 32 days after laying eggs. Good luck.
