Finally. Got the plants secured'ish, temps should be good been checking those. So hopefully now at some point he will come out and check out the place. He did look at the tree when I got it and removed his rock. He seemed quite happy with it actually, exploring it all over tounge flicking about wildly.

Wow he sure has come a long way!! he must be lovin it in snake paradise now. and now you can finaly relax:spinner: hope you keep updating on Stu and keep up the good work:smash:

I'd still like to give him more cover. He never wants to leave that rock. No matter how hot it is he never leaves. It's 83 right now as far as I can tell.

I think he may also be scared of our giant tv. It's plasma so generates heat like a foundry, and has giant people always moving around. I think he's in line of site and sees things moving or something.

If you are really worried you could try getting a second hide identical to the one he seems to prefer and put it at the other end. Then he can choose his temp and be in the hide he really likes. :)

He seems to enjoy the tree when he's on it. But he will only venture over there if I take away his rock.

I took away his rock today and he eventually started to explore and get a drink. He took quite a big drink too.

He went to the tree and ended up bunching up behind it then found he could go inside (second time he's explored the tree now) he went inside but I don't think he can fit entirely under it. It does look as if I could carve out more of the inside if I could figure out which tool would do the best job.

I hope I didn't just waste $30 on this thing.

The tree hide may be too open for him. I have a hide that has a wide/tall opening and none of my snakes will hide in it. I did finally get one snake to use it but I had to take a lot of fake plants and place in front of the opening so that the snake could just squeeze under them and it was darker inside.

I got to thinking the exact same thing, I'm also concerned about the size inside. I did see him manage to squeeze into it, but I have no idea how the snake actually feels about it.

Like I said, I could figure out a decent way to do it, I could carve out the inside of the tree more, so he has more room.

I can make solid plaster bases for fake plants, so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal to get a bunch and put them near there to close it up and darken it a bit.

I'm finding the plaster bases to be quite handy.

I buy the aquarium plants when they are on sale and just stick those all around inside the tanks. They seems tobe a bit sturdier and lose less leaves when I wash them than regular silk plants. It's kind of hilarious - the snakes are like "ohhh hidey place no one can see me" and I can see them almost perfectly behind a couple of leaves. So cute! <3

I often find my corns sleeping under plants instead of in their hides. I do have the silk plants but I take hot glue gun and glue all the leaves and flowers to the stems lol. Just a tip.
