quick question... i recently attened a reptile swap and i know conditisons there are never really good anyways but they have a few corns there in calci sand i was always told that it drys out there skin but is it possible to do this in you viv without problems or am i just dreaming??? :crazy02:

If you mist the cage every day I think it should be fine. Thats what we do at work and they don't have any problem shedding that I can tell.

Its not good to have cornsnakes on calci sand for several reasons.

I did a look up on this one and found this quote, I whole heartly agree:

Calci-sand and similar substrates will always get into both mouth and vent and cause impaction problems.

Sand further causes dessication (drying) of the environment. Even if the relative humidity a few inches above the substrate is in the 50% range, it will be extremely dry at the surface of the sand where the snakes are in contact with it.

So to me Red flag when it comes to cornsnakes and sand, but its your snake.

As Krenna said/quoted, Calci sand is very bad for you snake.

Make sure you never use Calci Sand
