So Many Morphs...
(F) Gaea - Amel Motley unkown hets
(M) Zeus - Classic het Hypo, Lavender, Stripe ph Amel
She is the my female who became egg bound last year after producing slugs without ever being introduced to a male. So having read that there may be a higher chance of egg binding with slugs vs. fertile eggs I decided to introduce her to a male this year when I notice that she appeared to be ovulating.
They have had 3 "dates" since early March and last night Zues got the job done. They remained hooked up for over 40 min. There was some spillage when they were done, so I hope it took and she becomes gravid. I plan to offer two more additional dates and see what happens. As well the hopeful mom to be, will be on additional rations.
I am hoping to prove out Zeus's possible Amel gene, so here are the expected offspring based on no hidden genes with Gaea.
If Zeus has no Amel gene:
50% Classics het Amel, Motely 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
50% Motley/Striped het Amel 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
If Zeus has the Amel Gene:
25% Classic het Amel, Motley 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
25% Amel het Motley 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
25% Amel Motley/Striped 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
25% Motley/Striped het Amel 50% ph Hypo 50% ph Lavender
It turns out I was confused when I was first was thinking of putting Zeus in with Gaea and I had thought he was only 8 mths old but he is 22 mths and I am very impressed with him as he is only 210 gms to her 337 gms!
Now if my other pair would get the job done, not that it is for lack of trying on the male's part!:shrugs:
I only have the two pairings planned for this year so it would be nice to have them both be successful.
