successful, but not typical

Hi all! The single good egg in a clutch of 9 hatched today! After 63 days at an average of 83 degrees, the triple-het (hypo snow) normal emerged.

Here's the non-typical part:

Two months of successful brumation and about two months of recovery/prep had elapsed before I put them together. I put them together every other day for two weeks, until they both seemed uninterested. After these seemingly successful attempts, I separated them again on March 1.

She didn't lay the eggs until July 28!! I guess I misinterpreted her swollen state of ovulation for her pre-laying condition. She kept me guessing, but then finally laid the 8 slugs and single viable egg. So, here he/she is - more to come. Enjoy

Sounds so much like my experiance this year. I waited 4 years for this clutch, last year they just were not interested. I put them together in Feb, saw them mate. Then put them together the first week of March.....saw them mate again. Sangria did not lay her eggs until June 23!!!!!! The babies were worth the wait though!

Good luck with your new baby!! :)
