swallowing wood chips?

Well depending on the size of the wood chip. Not too big of a piece of wood chip isn't going to be too bad. Of course obviously the bigger the wood chip the more harm since digestion is harder.

That is one of the reason I would recommand people using aspen bedding as digestion of aspen is much better than other substrates. Another recommandation that I would say is to feed it outside it's tank/enclosure to avoid substrate being swallowed...
