swaying head?

Most often when I am handling Jasper, he will raise his head to my eye level or as high as he can reach and then he will move his head side to side. It makes me think of the whole "walk like an Egyptian" thing. I find it amusing to mirror his movements haha

anyway, is this normal?

does he have red eyes? Most of my red-eyed animals will sway to compensate for poor vision.

It is normal. I am not sure why it is that they do that. I think they are just so intent on checking something out that they get so excited or maybe it is just because they are checking you out and being held at the same time. :shrugs: I just had one of mine do it looking at the fan as we were walking underneath it.

You know, I've been wondering if corns with red eyes have any vision issues. This is the first I've heard of it. Sarae, is it normal for red-eyed corns to have vision impairment?

I'm not sure. Both my corns have dark eyes. But I've had red-eye rats and ferrets and my albino leopard geckos all had vision issues.

I think red eyed animals are just more sensitive to direct light into their eyes then other animals. They might get hurt (damaged eye) from too bright light (too often). This is what I heard, but I am not sure if is the truth.

:-offtopic But when my creamsicle Dallas was little, every time I took him out he would take his whole upper body & point it strait in the air like an arrow for a good minute. He would do that all the time! I got a little worried thinking he was "special" but then someone asked me if I was always under a ceiling light when he did that (which I was), if so then it was b/c sometimes they're attracted to the light!

Anyways back to your topic, he doesn't do that any more but when I hold him away from me he will stretch out pretty far trying to get to my neck & some times he does sway back & forth.

Don't you just love them tho??:D
