Swelling above the vent

TaraRawr

Learning so much!
Hey everyone. My snow corn looks like it is swollen and bluish colored above the vent. He (or she) last ate on the 2nd of this month with no issues. I didn't realize right away, but he looked like he was in blue. I've never offered food in blue before, and wouldn't have this time had I realized. By the time I noticed, he had already eaten. Now, he hasn't shed yet...his eyes are clear again and he looks dull but it is so hard to tell with him b/c he is a snow. I peeked in on him today and he looks bluish and swollen above the vent. He (or she) is not even a year old. I got him in July and he was just a teeny thing.

So what could be going on? I'm nervous about it....I feel like he should have shed already and could that have something to do with this?

It might be that he is about to poop. Since he is a snow you can see through them easily. Is the swelling towards the tail side of the vent? If the swelling is on the tail side of the vent, then you might have an issue. Other than that, it really sounds like he may just be getting ready to "go". He will probably go when he sheds, mine like to do that..

Thank so much for the quick reply! It is not on the tail side....I will go try to take a picture.

I apologize for the horrible quality...I did my best :/

Yeah, to me that looks like he's going to "go" soon. I wouldn't worry about it. If he is in shed he'll probably go while he is shedding or right after :)

Hey Tara, good to see you're still around.

I feed all the time while in blue without issue, just make sure temps are good for digestion. You will most likely get a poop with the shed.

Thanks, Danny. I re-checked the temps and everything is looking good so I guess I will just wait until he sheds. It should be any time now...I was a bit worried earlier. I feel so much better now.
