Taking them outside?

I'd love to take my boys outside for a bit and let them roam in the grass. I've had them out, but only in my hands. I guess my question is, is it safe to let them roam in the grass if I watch them like a hawk? I guess I'm afraid of little bugs getting on them and getting into their tanks when I bring them back in, should I wash them somehow before I put them in their enclosures? Thanks for the help! :D

You are probably fine. Lots of people do it. Be very aware of temperature extremes. I don't think I would worry about bugs.

They should be alright, just keep an eye on them. If they're hatchlings though I might wait until they're a little bigger and less flighty. I took one of mine outside for the first time a while back and I was afraid he would try to escape but it was no problem. :)

I doubt bugs will be an issue, but you will definitely want to make sure that no pesticides or other chemicals have been sprayed on the grass.

People like Nanci & Shiari do outside photoshoots, so I think it's probably fine, as long they aren't crazy hatchlings who will get away! My 09s are all flighty when handled so I wouldn't risk it with them, but the bigger ones are mellow enough to go out when the temps are conductive (we had one warm day so far but I had to work!).

I take my mellower ones outside frequently. My Indigo really seems to enjoy climbing trees and taking in new scenery. My little guy is a bit too flighty still so he's not been outside as much as the others.

Aside from checking the weather forecast, I have a digital temperature gun that I bring outside with me before I bring a snake out. I check the temperatures of both shady and sunny spots the snake could encounter, and make sure they are within a range comfortable for that particular snake. I'd definitely recommend a temp gun if you don't already have one; you can carry it everywhere if you do decide to take the snakes out.

If you're unsure about letting them roam the grass, put them in a tree with low branches! :D Or a bush like a blueberry or lilac bush would probably work too.
