I have a 12"W 36"L 18" H but it has front sliding windows, will a corn snake be able to get out of there? If so would duct taping it shut keep him in there, cause i really don't want to buy a new cage.

If the gaps are small then no it wont get out but if the gaps are large then yes it will. Duct tape may get stuck to the snake if you use that but it close up the gaps.

Duct tape is really dangerous around snakes as it can get stuck and rip scales off.

Is it possible to use a hot glue gun to fill in any gaps? or keep the snake in some other tank until it's big enough to not fit through any gaps?

if the sliding doors are flush with each other, meaning there is no (or very very little) gap, then you're fine. Just make sure there is a latch or something to close it. Those little guys will spend hours pushing on a door to see if it will open.

If you do need to seal it, try sealing a rubber stopper between the doors. This will let you open the door but will keep the snakes in, instead of gluing the doors shut.

they are sliding doors and there is maybe a 1/4 inch gap between doors. They don't lock though thats why i was saying some sort of tape on the outside of the door to lock it in place. Also, how long could a corn snake live in a 1'W 2'L 1'H tank till he grows out of it?

If this snake is to small for this cage, there is no other choice. Just pick one up.

Maybe you can use this cage for something else or wait until your snake is larger to place in that cage. But there is no ifs, ans, or butts. If you are second guessing this cage, you will have a missing snake. Do not try to doctor it, you may only make things worse.
