Let me start first!
1. I was scared when i was little! Till i grew up, i now work in a pet store, getting into reptiles.
2. i think they are mystery, cunning, sanctity...
3. I like the corns the most cause there colors, patterns are just perfect, they are also gentle and nice!
4. This time i am not gonna choose a corn, i would choose a python! cause they are strong, and big! anything happen to me, they will be able to protect me!
5. To me, they are like "live fossil"! According to there evolution, nothing can compare with them!

okay, now it s your turn~~

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!
1. I did like them when I was younger. They were very much a mystery. Humans fear that which they don't know. Now that I am grown, I no longer think like a child. Even though he is a somewhat harmless corn, every time I get Big Boy out to handle, it's a complete Ad dump for me. It has filled a very big void in my life that nothing else could do.
2. To expand on answer #1, I have been a street (beat) cop for 7 years. I have had gunfire go off right next to me, and I don't flinch. Car chases, I sound like I just woke up on the radio. Theres is nothing at work that scares me anymore. People say this is the best time to get outta my line of work. But the flip side, I started very young, (I was the youngest Patrolman in the entire Dept. for a very long time.) I got hooked very quickly to that dump and rush that work provided. Now, just like any other drug, I am always looking for more and more and more Adrenaline. Thats not a good thing, professionally. The snakes provide something that work does not. I now want even more and more. I want a Burm, but have family commitments first. I know my next non-corn snake will be big.
3. Burms. Theres something about that size. I know there are bigger snakes, but some people like blue, where some people like purple.
4. Again, the Burms. Be with me forever? At least 15+ years, I don't have that much left in me, we'd be right there together. Protect and serve me?? I dont like the serve part. Any realtionship is 50/50. "Serve" seems to indicate a subordinate position. With out him(Burm), I am nothing. With out me, he(Burm) is......................................................................................................
You know the rest.
5. The ones I have now; I love em. Even though Hookie is a pissy youngin, I think he will come around. Who knows, maybe a snake that once bit me, will end up my sons snake. Jor El, I think he is alot like me, he just dont give a s%*^. Whatever happens, happens. There is nothing you can do about it, just deal with it when it comes.

Sorry. I know thats alot more than what you were asking for, but every question seems to have no easy answer.

1, I cannot actually remember when I first started getting into snakes, But I was never scared of them as a child. Then I asked for one for my 13th Birthday and I got a lovely garter snake called Sid. I remember taking him everywhere in my pocket with me. When he died I was soooo upset I didn't want another incase it happened again.
2, I had lots of different pets as a child, mainly dogs. At the moment I have my rottie Stitch and my cat Archie. And not forgetting my two beautiful snakes Flakes & Murphy. I decided to get another snake at 28yrs old mainly for my son who's 8. We always saw them in a reptile shop down the road from us called Cold Blooded. And Jake showed the same interest as me when I was young so I did some homework on the best snakes to keep for a beginner (it had been so long since I had mine I needed to refresh my memorie) And after lots of thought we got our first cornsnake Flakes. I cannot imagen not having a snake in my life now. And the kids absouloutly adore them even my dog is friendly with them and tries to lick them.
3, Corns obviously lol. thay are not to big easy to handle friendly calm natured. And there is such array of colours to choose from.
4, Defentaly a corn but I am biased.
5, Dont get me started on my babies. Flakes is 1yr old and thanks to be servearly under fed as a hatchling is now still very small for his age but is such a calm sweet natured snake. He quite happily comes to the glass when I come in and will crawl into my hands for a cuddle. Even when i put him on the floor he always ventures a bit then returns to my hand for safety. He has never once tried to bite and will curl up under my t shirt or in my pocket for hours. Then there is my ickle Murphy he is 4mths old Carolina corn. He is slightly more skitish and nervy although he has never bit or rattled at me he is still quite scared. Ive had him for a few weeks so hopefully with lots of love and handling he will grow just like Flakes did. Yes has you can probly tell my snakes are one of my favourite animals and I go majorly over the top with them I know they do not love like a dog but I love them and they just come along for the ride haha.
Soo thats me and my snakes.
great idea for a thread by the way xxJxx

1. Did you like snakes when you were little??why do you like'em?

Yes. I have loved and captured snakes as long as I can remember. I liked them because they were animals I could catch easily.

2. Why did you choose snakes for pets but not others?

They are easy to care for, relaxing, can be left overnight or longer safely, they are beautiful, each one is special and unique.

3. what kind of snakes you like the most? why do you like this kind the most?

I like kingsnakes the most. There is so much variety. My kingsnakes both have wonderful personalities.

4. If you could have a snake to be with you forever, to protect you, to serve you, to share moments with you, what kind would you pick??

A king cobra. I would feel safe with a king cobra protecting and serving me.

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!

One thing I love to do with my snakes is take them outside and photograph them. I also like to watch TV with my snakes.

Nanci

I loved snakes when I was a child, like every other reptile, they are just pure hard extreme survivors.

I have lots of other pets, I just started but I love mine, there's just something about them that I can stand for hours just watching them.

I think ratlesnakes are the ones I most admire, or the realy large constrictor ones (on TV offcourse), but as a pet for about now the ones on top of the list are obviously corn, I like kings and milks also.

My Flake, he's with me for a short time but I love him, hopefully he will stay with me for a long long time.

In this short time I love to hold him, he also likes it very calm and relaxed, feeding him is excelent, he's eating very well, and seeing him grow, just a little bit for now but he's doing just fine.

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!

1. I have liked snakes since I was little I'm not entirely sure why. I just find them facinating.
2. I chose a snake because they are intresting, easy(ish) to keep, and I feel comfortated by them.
3. I have to say one of my favorite snakes at the moment has to be an ATB. Not because of personality but because of their pure beauty and grace.
4. If I could have one snake to be with me forever I would really like it to be a burmese python I find them so amazing and comforting and they need respect because (a grown one) can easily overpower you, which is pretty cool to me because then they dont really seem like your 'pet' they seem more like a friend
5. I love to take pictures of them and educate people with them. For example my cousin thought all snakes were mean and slimey but after she met Kade that changed. I really like to just chill out with them too maybe sit down with them and watch some tv. :]

1. Did you like snakes when you were little??why do you like'em?

Not snakes, specifically - I didn't dislike them, just never really thought about them. I was however obsessed with the slow worms I found in my garden, although they're lizards they look a lot like snakes. I think that's where my love of snakes comes from.

2. Why did you choose snakes for pets but not others?

Well, I do have other pets, so it's not like I choose snakes above all else. But one of the main reasons I like to keep snakes is because they expect so little from me - I have cats that like a lot of attention, so it's nice to have a few pets that want their own space too.

3. what kind of snakes you like the most? why do you like this kind the most?

My favourite snakes are Rainbow Boas, Anacondas and Death Adders. Rainbow Boas because of their absolute beauty. The other two, well... I'm not sure exactly. They just fascinate me.

4. If you could have a snake to be with you forever, to protect you, to serve you, to share moments with you, what kind would you pick??

Great question :)
If we're talking a specific individual here, I'd have my Connor. He's everything I want in a snake and by far my favourite pet, though I don't tell the others of course ;)

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!

Well... I have three, there's Connor, my caramel corn cross, Chester, my normal royal python, and Willow, the newbie of the bunch - she's my baby rainbow boa. Connor and Willow are both a bit nippy and temperemental - Chester is the complete opposite and is a laidback lump of a python. He's my "scared visitor" snake - even the most diehard snake haters can't help but fall in love with his silly face. :grin01:

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!

1. Always liked snakes when I was little. Always thought they were neat cool animals with a little mystique about them.

2. We have had many different pets. Still have 2 dogs, 8 fish, a hermit crab and a normal corn. Actually I had not given a snake much thought before but then my 9 year old son wanted one. Its one of those things dad's do, use son for excuse to get a snake or some toy like a fishing boat or quad etc... lol

3. Corns for pet but we have garter snakes everywhere on my 2 acres. I saw a Mexican Black King on a thread here and i am real interested in get one of those. Corns are mellow easy to handle. I have heard Kings are easy to handle and are mellow also.

4. For me on this one I don't need protection or servant so it is companionship, I would choose a Corn or Mexican Black King.

5. We had Houdini (aka Boo) and he warmed the entire family up to snakes including my wife who before had never been around them much. He sadly pasted from crypto, but he inspired us to get another. He was the benefactor for Boo II (aka Deuce). Deuce is a normal yearling we got from a member here. He has been with us a few weeks and is already starting to make himself at home. He may not be rare color but he has beautiful detailed colors and pattern. My son noticed right off that he has an almost perfect impression of a sword on top of his head. For this reason my daughter calls him Excalibur(aka X). He may just inherit all of these names.

1. Did you like snakes when you were little??why do you like'em?
I was more or less oblivious to them as a child; I was intent on trying to get cats into my house, more than anything. When I was about 7, though, someone brought an enormous boa constrictor to our Brownies' mtg and I touched him. That was definitely interesting to me, but I still wanted just cats.

2. Why did you choose snakes for pets but not others?
I chose other pets prior to getting snakes. My first "on my own" pet was a hamster. I'd had fish growing up, but I took complete care of my hamster. Then, when living on my own & prior to getting snakes, I got 3 cats...finally, my kitties. :) On my way to getting snakes, I adopted two leopard geckos, and in the midst of acquiring snakes, I also received a bearded dragon for my birthday.

3. What kind of snakes you like the most? why do you like this kind the most?
I only own corn snakes & I was advised to get them as an ideal pet for my classroom. I just happened to like them so much that I acquired more for my personal hobby. I like their calm temperament, their cute lil'faces, their variety of colors, their ease of care & their ease of handling with my students/kids. I can't judge too well, though, as I'm really only familiar with corn snakes.

4. If you could have a snake to be with you forever, to protect you, to serve you, to share moments with you, what kind would you pick??
Errrm, that sounds more like a description of a dog than a snake. So, whatever snake more closely resembles a dog, then I'll take that one. :)

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!
I'm grateful that my six are such absolute sweethearts & I've learned a lot from them. They're diverse in color, but I did that specifically to show my students that though they all look different (i.e., like them!), that fundamentally they're all the same on the inside & should be respected the same. A small lesson in humanity.

1. I was raised in the country. Played in the woods. So they were just there. Part of the woods.
2.Well, I can't quite figure that out. I have lots of pets. But only just recently held a corn snake. And fell in love. Two days later recieved it as a surprise gift.
3.I love mine the most! But I do love the Mex. Blk. King. I think it is a beautiful snake.
4.My corn "Timber"
5. "Timber" is very cool. She was my first snake. She is very sweet and laid back. We are picking up a 2-1/2 yr old King this week-end. And I am hoping to find a MBK sometime soon!!

1. Did you like snakes when you were little??why do you like'em?

Hmm, I can hardly remember... I do know that I loved all animals (except spiders and bees), which is why I made the choice to aim toward running/owning a refuge. So most likely I did really like snakes then too.
Why I like snakes? Because they are quiet, non-demanding and gentle and yet powerful. Not to mention beautiful.

2. Why did you choose snakes for pets but not others?

Just like some others here, I have other pets as well and love variety. I chose snakes for pets for the same reasons I like them. That, and my extreme love for reptiles.

3. what kind of snakes you like the most? why do you like this kind the most?

That's a tough one, but I think I would have to say Ball Pythons. I love their size (not small but not too big), patterns, and docile nature. Also it was a BP that was the first snake to ever 'like me' and the first I ever really learned to take care of.

4. If you could have a snake to be with you forever, to protect you, to serve you, to share moments with you, what kind would you pick??

Oh man, that's hard to say. If you had asked what kind of reptile, I would say Bluetongue Skink in a heartbeat. I love those guys! But what kind of snake? I guess it would be a BP...they are the greatest companion snakes.

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!

Well, the first snake I ever owned myself was Indie my red checkered garter. He was a great little guy and really helped introduce me to the world of snake keeping. Now I have Nagini my 3 month old BP. She's still adjusting so I can't handle her much, but she's a good girl when I do. I love watching her cruise around at night all over her branches. Then there's Aries, my new corn. Aptly named, he was never handled by his breeder and is quite the fighter. I know he'll calm down in time (mostly because he settled down within 10 minutes or so of holding him at the show), it just takes patience. I just hope he eats for me next time I try. :)

Fun thread!

1. Did you like snakes when you were little??why do you like'em?
Yes, I have always liked snakes. I like the way they feel and move and they are beautiful.

2. Why did you choose snakes for pets but not others?
I have many pets besides snakes.

3. what kind of snakes you like the most? why do you like this kind the most?
I guess I like corns the most since thats what I have LOL. I also like ball pythons, rainbow boas and hoggies.

4. If you could have a snake to be with you forever, to protect you, to serve you, to share moments with you, what kind would you pick??
Probably my creamsicle Pandora, he's the best snake ever:)

5. Please talk about a little things about your snakes!
Pandora always comes out and watched me when I'm in the snake room. He is a super cool snake who actually seems to enjoy being with me. My other snakes just enjoy the food I bring.

1. My aunt had a very large boa and I loved it. I started raising mice at age 13 just to feed to my aunt's snake.
2. I didn't choose just snakes. I currently have snakes, birds, cats, rats and fish. If the landlord would allow it, I'd have a dog. Snakes are an excellent choice for renters and apartment dwellers, taking up very little room with practically zero chance of property damage.
3. I like aberrant patterned corn snakes. I think of myself as one who doesn't quite fit in, but having my own unique qualities. I am drawn to people and animals that are similar.
4. The kind with four legs that answers to "Fido".
5. Snakes are a unique form. Everything about them sets them apart from mammals, from metabolism to means of movement, they are alien to us.

WOW the post only been here for a day! so many snakes lover replied me already! thank you ya all , thanks for your time to type such a long answers!!
wish ya have a healthy , lovely snake!!
