Temp problem

Hey guys. I am having a problem getting a difference in temperature on the cool side of the tank. i am using a 10 gallon all glass aquarium with a screen top and a UTH on on side of the tank. during the day the warm side is about 82, but the cool side is only 80. any help would be nice.

Is the room temperature around your way 80? If so, try the air conditioning or something. Maybe you can move the heat mat out a bit so less of the tank is heated- this should slightly lower the temp of the cool side.

Would gettind a wider tank help? perhaps getting a 20L and still using the same heat mat. The room temp is about 77-78.

You'll need to upgrade to a 20 gallon anyway, so you'd may as well do it now :). How big is the heat mat?

Looking for a thermometer, I came across an indoor/outdoor one for cars. It is digital and has two sensors for two readings, warm and cool side. With an undertank heatpad in a 55 gal tank. The temps are perfect for both ends.

I think that getting the 20g will help.

I have the same type of problem though, and the room temp is 80, (the a/c can't seem to get it any lower) so I don't worry too much about it.
