Temps at night?

Hi, I have a 20 gallon long tank. i have an under tank heater and a heat lamp. At night i turn off the heat lamp but leave the UTH on. My UTH does not get that hot and that's why i use a heat lamp during the day. I'm just wondering how low the temps can get at night?

To start with, what are your current temps on the floor of the tank (where the snake is), with both the UTH+Lamp, and then UTH only?

it seems to go down to the 65-70 range. with just the UTH. i don't know why its not that how the UTH is new.

sorry let me repost. the heat on the hot side suring the day with both the UTH and the heat lamp is from 82-88 depending on the room temp. when the heat lamp is off it reads about 68-75. i don't know why its not that hot because the UTH is new.

That seems very cool, given that a UTH usually gets well over 100 degrees if it isn't on a thermostat. Are you measuring temps with a digital thermometer, at floor level?

Sorry to bang on about it, but I guess we need to understand where you're starting from, so that we can answer your original question properly.

I don't know of any UTH that left alone won't hit close to a dangerous 100 degrees. You're measuring the heat directly on the glass and with a digital thermometer, not a stick on, right?

You're not looking over my shoulder, are you?!?

i just checked my temp on the glass without the heat lamp (i was reading on the substrate) and it is at 80 on the glass..
