tempting to get...

There must be something wrong with me....
I mean, they are pretty and all...

but I would rather pursue fancier morphs from breeders I know......

The first snake is not even an okeetee, and if I wanted an okeetee I would run to Lee Abbott himself, in a heartbeat. He has the okeetee perfected.

And the anery stripe is nice, really really nice....but Jen P from ghosthousecorns has ghost stripes that are fantastic. Yes, they cost more, but worth every penny!!!

But when I first started keeping snakes, before I started focusing on breeding them and working with upper end morphs, that ad probably would have set me to drooling too!!!

I agree with buying from a known breeder, but money wise this is a good deal and I look at it like "rescuing" them from someone who clearly does not want them anymore. as far as the one not being okeetee, doesn't matter to me...I actually would rather get a baby anyway, just thought I'd post it anyway.

and some people like regular mustard over grey poopon...fancy morph mustard lol!!!

Oh don't mind me! I am kinda snotty and high-falutin' anyway! Ask anybody :)

I like the cheap mustard with brats, but on anything else its grey poupon all the way,lol The anery stripe is pretty and if its what you want go for it:)

Hmmm

Well since you think you maybe recueing it,I presume you have a few hundred dollars saved, just in case you have to take it to the vet.
So is it a good deal? :shrugs:

while I appreciate the concern, kinda odd the only kinda negative replies are from breeders.
not bashing at all, I understand any pet may require vet services, in fact my daughters dog had to be put down on sunday.
I have no problem caring for my pets. you never know what will happen and when.

well

Just search through the forum and see all the people who have bought snakes from there with problems. Personally I cant afford to take a risk of anyones stock into my collection

That's probably because, most of the time, the breeders are the ones who've been around the block and back. I agree with Stephen.. If the health of the snake is questionable, or if you at all consider it a "rescue," you should have at least a few hundred dollars saved up in case of vet bills. I've learned the hard way just how devastating one little bug or illness can be if you don't have the money to cover emergency vet bills... Or, for that matter, if you don't practice appropriate quarantine.

In the long run, the extra cost of a snake from a reputable breeder is more than worth it. If you just *have* to have *this* snake and no other (lord knows we've all been there), even though it's a CL rescue, great--by all means, go ahead and get it... Just make sure you have safeguards and back up plans in place in case things go bad.

I have gotten three snakes from craigslist sellers (who weren't breeders) they took good care of their snakes 2. were because the ppl were moving and couldn't keep them and one was because they guy was into pythons. All of them are beautiful, healthy and are nice additions to my corn colony. The '07 Sunglow motley female, the '07 Hypo female and the '08 Normal pinstripe mot female. Of course I didn't know they were females when I purchased them, I just got really lucky :D

I'm going to disagree on the "few hundreds of dollars saved" thing for vet bills, and this is just me, but i doubt i'm alone...I don't live in a world where any snake that comes under my care is going to be "lucky" enough to be spared an illness thats going to cost "a few hundred dollars"...Not my reality; I don't do credit cards, money is (and has always been) tight and what "savings" we have goes directly to the next car repair bill...or taxes...or braces...or medical bills...They're snakes...I love them...always have...over 30 years...No knock on those who can and do, I totally understand...But if I had something come up one in the 11 corns I keep, or just 1, I'd put them/it down, and feel real bad about having to...
