Tennis ball hide box

I was trying to think of some sort of hide box that I could use that would be really small and came up with the idea of cutting a tennis ball in half. It may be to small, but I still wanna see if my snake would use it. The only problem is that that it smells really bad because of it's rubber core. I figured if the smell bothers me then it'd really bother the snake. So I was wondering if there's any way to get rid of the smell?

Could you wash it with something ?? Being so small of an area I wouldn't clean in bleach. Just try liquid soap but let it really dry out and check to see if smell is gone. If not I wouldn't use it . You could use any cardboard like paper towel roll, small boxes etc etc. somthing without a smell. Anything with a smell scares me. health problems. Just my thoughts

Good Luck

They're a little bigger but I use halved coconut shells...very natural and effective for snakes up to about a year old.

The rubber will be pretty hard to de-stinkify I think. Also, if he decided to poop on it, it'd be a pain to clean cos of all the hairy fibres on the outer part.

I'd just stick with the coconut. He'll grow into it soon enough, believe me. ;)

You could loosely stuff the coconut with sphagnum moss. This will fill up the extra space and make the snake feel more secure.

I use appropriately sized and lengthed pvc pipe. Cut in half lengthwise. Works great, and really cheap. They both love it.

I put a cardboard toliet roll in there with him, but as far as I know he's never been in it. Probably 'cause there's an opening on each end.

I been thinking about your tennis ball hide problem. Just a thought. Try using baking soda is the ball. That might help. It's worth a try!

Try cutting it in half length ways and kinda squish it down... might work.
