Terrible death of my paradox snow

Katt

Canadian Corn Fan
Well, I had a little paradox snow I bought from a friend and had been waiting to get a camera to take pics of, but I guess I can't now b/c my dog killed her. Just a baby. Guess she got out during the night and he killed her. I'm beyond upset. My coolest corn ever and now she's just a managled mess.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. There is really nothing else I can say to console you. I wish there was. I guess you will buy another snake. I certainly would. The only thing you can do is to learn from this experience. Corn snakes are notorious escape artists. Try and figure out how and where it escaped and do your best to remedy the situation for your next snake. Keep your chin up. Good Luck.

It wouldn't have been so bad, if it hadn't been my paradox snow. I don't think you can easily buy one. She wasn't a ruby freckled, she was a paradox like VMS herp, but she had more black. When I finally do get a camera, I will take a pic, but now I can't even grow her up and see if it's genetic. I'm devasted by her loss.

I'm fairly sure how she got out. The mirror on my dresser fell off during the night along with a water bowl (with rocks) and fish, it must have knocked her container (tupperware show box) which is right next to the dresser. Didn't knock off her container, but gave it a good bonk so the lid could loosen and it wasn't something I noticed.

What's worse is she wouldn't have been there, if I hadn't checked on her last thing last night b/c she is my favourite and valuable to me. I wanted to be sure, she was ok with water and everything, and now she's dead, completely chewed.

Don't blame yourself for things that you have no control over. Who would have prepared for a mirror falling over and causing the chain reaction it did? No one. I understand the bummed out feelings you have. But don't beat yourself up over it. That will only make you feel worse. It is a shame it had to be your paradox. Unfortunately, it is something you have to deal with. Hang in there. It really sucks when you take the utmost care and something completely out of the blue happens in which you could not forsee or avoid. Wish there was more I could say to make you feel better, but not a damn thing comes to mind. Once again, sorry for your loss. :awcrap:

You are absolutely right. It was late when the mirror went over, there was rock, water and glass all over. Her container wasn't knocked down so I didn't think to check it was secure, I was more concerned about glass bits every where and the dog and cat walking all over the mess.

Still, my paradox snow! At least I have my other babies for comfort.

Unfortunately that's normally how Murphy deals with us. Our most cherished or most valuable pets are the ones that get nailed with "bad luck." I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well. I'm sure you'll be able to find another one to take her place. Just make sure you put the other one in a more secure place, safe from mirror air-strikes.

That is funny in a horrible morbid way. Mirror air-strikes, missile air-strikes.

Thanks guys! I am feeling cheered up. Depressed, but not so heart broken.

Here is a random pic of one of my other corns.

See, you still have more that need your attention too! And beautiful ones at that. :) Chalk it up to a learning experience and go on from there. I'm glad that helped to make you feel a little better. If its any consolation, I sat on a snow once...

Oh gosh! What happened??

Here's a little blizz I hatched out, this year. She ranks up there as one of the special ones.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your snow Katt. Very frustrating when circumstances seem to align against you. You have had some tough breaks lately.

The baby blizzard is looking great though - glad to hear you still have those girls after losing Silica,

mary v.

Well... my ex was holding her and let her kind of free roam on the couch, and I didn't know he had her out or that she was on the couch... eh, yeah I wasn't too happy. She was only a yearling too. Just started her life :(

Thats a very pretty blizzard. See! She's a perfect example! She needs you!

Thanks Mary and Jynx.

I guess it's the nature of 'livestock" it can quickly b/c "deadstock". Losing Silica is still not something I can deal with. Some things hurt too deep.

As for my paradox snow. What can I do? One am, glass and water everywhere, didn't want my dog and cat to get cut little feet. A lid gets bumped out goes my most prized corn, dog discovers it, she's dead, at least the dog didn't get his feet cut up by the glass. >sigh<

And they are both doing GREAT! Probably my two best feeders for 2005! They both look beautiful and they're growing quick. I'm pretty sure, they won't be big ones, as Silica was a wee snake for 6 yrs and Silicon is a small little guy. The two of them had very slender bodies too.

But I'll feed them and hope they get big!! At least the rest of the wee babies are ok. Just one little stubborn feeder, but the rest are just fine.

oh im really sorry for your loss i no how it feels to loose a snake. i lost one last mounth :( only differnce was the one i lost i have not found but iexpect he is dead its been pritty cold over here.
