Tezzerro questions?

So I've been chatting with a very nice guy in my area who's working with a few different kinds of corns(other snakes too). Some of you may remember I posted about a 1;1 of hoggies, this is the same seller. In the process of our conversation, he mentioned he had a few of his cornsnakes for sale too...a 1:1 of butter motleys and a 1:1 of normals double het for terrazzo and anery.
I love the normals, they're lovely... and honestly? I've wanted a nice classic for a while, but theres so many exciting morphs to choose from its hard to settle on just one.
A classic with interesting hets seems like a good comprimise for that issue (lol...either that or just more snakes!) but I know NOTHING about the Terrazzo gene. They're '08s...eating F/T ...The guy wants 400$ for the pair, and that -does- seem a little steep. But what do I know? That could be an amazing deal as far as I know (I thought now was a good time to start learning). I DO know at the moment that Terrazzo is a desireable (or at least less common) morph. Is that correct? Does that price seem...reasonable?
To be clear, I'm not in this for money. I plan on breeding in a very limited fashion someday(just to experiance the process)...but not soon and not for profit. I did a search on here of "terrazzo" and came up with a wealth of info...but I'm a little lost with so much. I guess my main questions are: what is the differance (laymans terms please) between 'origional granite' and 'Terrazzo'? I know there is one as it was mentioned in one of the threads I've found...but I know I'm not understanding it fully.
Does it work like a normal simple recessive? What does a really great example of a Terrazzo look like (adult/hatchling)? and this last one feels like a REALLY stupid question...but I have to ask...are they hybrids? I may be totally confused about some things I was reading...lol
Not too concerned with their value as hatchlings...as I said...I wont be breeding for a while...and by the time I do there will probably lots of other people working with them too...
Anyway...pretty much anything you folks have to tell me would be really helpful. Thanks so much!

The "original granite" was renamed "terrazzo" because of the confusion that would be caused with anery bloodreds also being called "granites". I really have no idea about the pricing on the terrazzos, but I would say that $400 for a pair of '08 normals het anery terrazzo sounds like a good price to me. Hello RosieReal,

I'm one of the few people her ein the US working with the Terrazzos also. $400 for that '08 double het pair is a GREAT price. Although the Terrazzo gene has been around for some time- they have never been "mass produced" and we're just now beginning to combine it with other color/pattern morphs. I've seen a Charcoal Terrazzo in person and it was amazing...I'm sure an anery Terrazzo would be very hot also.

The demand for the gene is high- finding homes for your future offspring wouldn't be a problem. I get emails probably every other week asking if I have any for sale since I have them on my website.

The Terrazzo gene came from an animal originally collected in the Florida Keys- I'm keeping both a pure Rosy Rat (FL Key) line and an outcrossed line going.

Terrazzos can be very variable- from looking almost like a partially striped corn to a "speckled" patternless individual... I'm glad to see more and more people discovering terrazzos- there is a ton of potential.

Hope that info helps...my short answer is: Yes, good deal- lots of potential- would be a great project!
Here are some pics of my animals...

1st 2 pics: ADULT female terrazzo (she is now just too darn old to breed.. one of the orig fl keys bloodlines... she was born in the late 90's)...I'm raisning up some of her 2008 offspring. I had her on loan to KJUN Snakehaven before giving her to them.

2nd 2 pics: 2009 Albino Terrazzo (from an outcrossed bloodline)

Wow...BEAUTIFUL snakes...and great information as well. The guy is willing to work with me on a payment plan, as we've spoken about this before...so it looks like its a good thing I'm ready for two more snakes!
Of course the deal is not finnished, I'll make an offer tomorrow. I will FOR SURE keep you all posted!

You won't be sorry, they are beautiful snakes. Here's my male, his pattern fades a little bit more each shed. All plans for him include ladies that are Upper Keys based animals.

Thanks for the pics and input everyone! I'm going to (hopefully, fingers crossed!) put a deposit down on payday. Thats Tuesday...thanks for the good wishes!
The number of people working with terrazzo corns in Canada is very small. It would be exciting to have something just a little different...:)

from a discussion I had a while ago with KJ the 'original granite' name is being reserved for terrazzos coming from pure rosecea lines

One correction, Boyd first produced these snakes and likely recognized thier difference from other corns. JMG was not the originator.

Just for interests sake, this is the pair of Normal 100%het for terrazzo and anery..first pic the snake is in blue (obviously), the next is not. I dont know if its the same snake or the two of them. I'll be 'meeting' them in person before I bring them home so I'm not too concerned.

and these are the 1:1 terrazzo pair he's got for sale now...he says they might be the only ones in Canada. I dont know how true that is for myself, but they are LOVELY snakes...and just a little out of my price range.

They looked lovely to me, but I was hoping somone who knows a little about terrazzo would tell me how good an example these are? I've tried to compair them myself to other pics I've seen, but I dont think I've quite got an eye for it yet. I struggle to find points of referance to judge quality for this morph (ie, i know diffusion on the sides is a good thing to look for with young carrying that gene...something similar for terrazzo?). Any thoughts? Be brutal! I want to learn, and usually the brutal truth is most informative. (not that i'm expecting alot of negitivity or anything...just sayin, let loose! lol)
oh...and my morph guide is in the mail...lol

Those are all Neat looking snakes. I'm not very familiar with the tezzerro gene myself so i could not say if they are good examples or not and as to if the pics of the normal het are the same, they look the same to me, but I can't be 100% sure.
