The Devil Snake (I love her really)

Does anyone know how to calm a large aggressive corn snake?

Shes not gravid, but shes a big, weighty, long, adult corn and I have been bitten by her more times than I can count. Shes not my first corn, my first corn was Java, he was always nice as pie.

She bites in seeminly unprovoked situations, and I feed her in a seperate box from the viv.

Any suggestions? Its possible she wasnt held much as a hatchling, but otherwise I'm stumped.

Try handling it with gloves on to start with. It'll give the snake some confidence in you (you give off "fear pheramones" when you're nervous and it will pick up on this and get scared itself, making it react to you as if you're a threat).

It'll also help you get more confident in handling it. This is a gradual process, but you should be able to pick it up without gloves after a few weeks or months. Good luck!

Thankyou

Thanks, I'll start to try and tame her with gloves soon, but she is actually gravid at the moment, I copied and pasted that post from a post I made a while ago on another site.

Hopefully her offspring will be more like their father temperment wise!

lol, actually, new-borns tend to be QUITE aggressive and nippy out of the egg. It's kind of cute watching them try to kick the crap out of your fingers though, *chomp* *chomp* ... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
