The newest addition: O. p. coxi

What is that, other than some kind of Old World Rat with insanely bright colors? This post ought to come with a sunglasses warning!

The common name is Thai Bamboo Ratsnake. I got her from friend of mine who has a nice local CB program going with them. I had looked at them before but I was looking into adding either a Cave Beauty, Radiated Rat, and a False Water Cobra when he brought her up. After one look the others have to wait. I think some spring and clutches are popping a O. p. laticinctus should be in the tank next to her... because it would be out of place having only one Bamboo Rat.... ...right? :)

I had one of these guys for a while, definitely a display animal. Unfortunately, she died during a heat wave and my apartment got to about 85 while I was gone. :( They are very sensitive to overheating!

Yea over the winter she'll be up in the snake room with everyone else but with no heating element and on the outside wall. It's keeping her at 70 right now and the room is very climate stable (besides in the summer). As summer approaches she'll be moving either into the living room or even into the basement. It's nice that they stay pretty small and easy to move around the house.

Oh my god! Are you KIDDING me? That's one of the most beautiful snakes I've ever seen! Great! Now I have to have one in my lifetime.
