Hey all, first thread I've started in a while. But lately, in the last... let's say, month or so, Travis has been really timid! If I go to pick him up (In the normal way I have done since I got him) he will bolt across the Viv and desperately avoid being picked up, He never struck at me, but has gone into striking position, and has musked twice in the last two weeks or so (Which he has never done.

Is there any reason behind the sudden behaviour? He gets fed every 6 days. And he wasn't in blue when it started, in fact he's recently shed again (when was in blue, I just left him alone.)
Come to think about it, it seemed to start when he moved into his bigger Viv. Which I would understand, But it was months ago now, and there is plenty of hiding places. So it shouldn't really be a problem.

As he makes it so awkward to pick him up, I feel I'm just stressing him out so I leave him alone again. But I'm afraid he'll become 'Un-Tame' and just get worse?

Any help would be great.

Mine is kind of acting the same way since he's getting bigger (more jumpy) Could be that they are sleeping when we pick them up, I know I hate to be woke up. I just handle mine as usual and don't put him back until he's mellow. I wouldn't stop handling him because it probably won't change his behavior that way. Just keep holding him and hopefully he will calm down. That's all I can tell you from my personal experiences, so hopefully someone else can add to this.

Cheers for the reply, It's not so much when I've actually holding him. He calms down completely and is fine again, It's just going to get him - He's makes it so difficult!
At times I feel like I want to print out pics of him being handled so I show them to him lol 'See? You like me! Remember?'

Could the temps be higher than normal, Marty? Some corns get downright cranky when the temps are too high. :shrugs:

Thanks for the reply, Dean.
Although when I check temps, and they are fine, it may possibly feel different to what he's used to as the UK has gone through a bit of a heat wave recently (We're not used to it at all, we're ALL cranky). There was a few days when the thermostat never needed to turn the UTH on because it was naturally hot enough, But it's cooled down a lot since.

I fed him last night and he even struck and constricted the F/T. Which as you may or may not know, I've never seen him do that either! He's changed a lot!

oh too wierd!
calamity too has been cranky, doing the 'escape, it's a monster' thing. she tail rattled when she was a baby but had grown out of it, so I've been a bit puzzled by her behavious this month. Maybe because the air temperature is so high here then? The others haven't acted any different, only her.
