The Wait Was Worth It

I held my first boa, a common, almost 15 years ago and immediately began my research. I bought tons of snake books and after turning a page, I saw it...a Dumeril's Boa  I wasn't ready at the time for a boa, so instead I delved into Corn Snakes. Then at the last local reptile show my once phobic boyfriend met a Dumeril's and caved to my obsession. So here he is, our first boa acquisition, our little 09 Dumeril's Boa, Sebastian...

Wow....you waited 15 years?? Thats amazing patience, but I wish more keepers were like that and thoroughly researched their decision. Congrats on the new beautiful little guy!! :)

OMG Marica!!!! He is DARLING!! ^_^ I love him so much. Great pickup! I can't wait to see him grow up!

Thanks everyone :)

He's still a little shy and puffs out his throat sometimes when we hold him, but I've heard nothing but good about their temperament so hopefully with some regular handling he wont be so nervous. I read on one site not to bother with any climbing apparatus since Dumeril's are solely terrestrial, however, we've caught him on the branch a few times

Robbie, if it wasn't so complicated and expensive to ship cross border I totally would've waited for one of your babies. I'll be keeping an eye out for pictures so I can jealously oogle them though ;)
