Thermometer and thermostat?

I was wondering if any one had good pictures of a good thermometer and a good thermostat? also where is a good place that sells them for cheap? right now i just have a stick on thermometer so i want to buy a good digital one with a probe, but a picture would help me to know what a good one looks like and where to get one. Also i am running a uth without a thermostat or a control of any kind so a picture would also help with that!

Indoor/Outdoor thermometers can be found a ton of places. I get mine from Wal-mart for ~$8.
I would definitely get some sort of control for the UTH. I have a helix proportional thermostat, but that may be a little much for just one snake (albeit worth the money even if just for one). From what I've heard there are several good ones in the 30-40 price range. If you do a search for thermostat you will probably get quite a few threads about them.
Online stores will probably have the best selection of items. At my local pet store I've only ever seen one type of thermostat.

you're talking about two different things.
A thermometer just measures temperatures. Any digital is the way to go, especially if i has a probe. Digitals tend to have the least amount of failure.

Thermostats control heat output to a specified temperature. With a probe, they measure temperatures and regulate them to keep within a programmed temerature. They'll run anywere from $30 (ZooMed) to over $100 (HerpStat). Big Apple Herp also has an excellent, inexpensive, thermostat.

so is there such thing that does both, measures temperatures with a probe and then also controls the heat, like a thermostat.

I don't know about other brands but the Helix DBS-1000 does do that. You place the probe and set what you want the temperature to be where the probe is and it controls the heating element to hold the temperature right where you want it. The numerical readout is the actual temperature that the probe is measuring and not just the desired (preset) temp. You can probably get the same thing for half the price by going with a simple indoor/outdoor thermometer and a good thermostat in the $30-50 range.

All thermostats with a digital readout will show the temps of where the thermocoupler(probe) is.Like said above should this shouldent replace a good digital thermometer...
