Thermometers and Hygrometers and Thermostats! Oh my!

I am currently doing a lot of research about thermostats and rheostats, and now I have also been reading a lot about a max/min thermometer as well.

Has anyone seen this, and do you think it would be a good investment? http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile_Supplies/Product/Big_Apples_Digital_Thermometer__Hygrometer_with_MinMax_Memory_178105.html

Also, which of these would you all recommend? I have never used either before, so I figured I would get your input! Thanks!

I have this one that you linked:

http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile...tat_923100.html

it was given to me with my first corn snake (adoption from a friend) it works fine but if I were to buy my own I wouldn't have bought this one....temperatures are controlled by low, medium, and high...so if you want to know your temps you have to have a gauge inside your enclosure. This works fine for me, because I also use lamp dimmers, work the same way and a fraction of the cost. It really depends on your needs, since I have the internal enclosure temp readers, the non-degree specific regulators work fine....but if I needed to use this alone to base the temps off of, then I would buy the one that is set to adjust to specific numerical temperatures.

I think I just confused the hell out of myself with that one!! LOL :D

Bmm, does the thermostat that you have display numbers? From the picture, it doesn't look like it does either. Does anyone know of a good one that does?

I have...

both the repti-temp rheostat and the ESU temp controller. I personally like the ESU one MUCH better. The repti-stat keeps the heat on all the time, but the ESU controller cuts the heater off when it gets too hot.

Since I posted that, my plans have changed entirely for the housing/heating of my snakes. I think I am going to buy either a Helix controller, or the BigAppleHerp proportional thermostat... not sure between the two yet... but I have decided I am going to build and rack system and do the heating tape and such...

does anyone know of a good max/min thermometer?
