can wireless indoor/outdoor gauges be used to get temp on each side of the cage? If not, don't you have to insert a wire? Thanks

Rather hard to figure out what your asking but I'll give it a try.

This is a thermometer I use to watch my temps, http://lllreptile.com/load-image/StoreInventoryImage/image/3903

However if you are looking for a controrl? like a thermostat or dimmer? then these are some,

It all depends on what you have and what you're wanting.
Hope this helped?

I dont think it will work that great if your trying to use it for both sides. Usually the outside probe you can glue down or stick down to the bottom but the unit has the temp gauge inside so you cant really get a good accurate reading of what the temp is on the glass. But usually if you know for sure what the temp is on the hot side the cool side is usually ok. Im sure some one one here may know of a thermometer to use. If you can find a Thermometer that has 2 temp probes and not just 1 that would be the way to go for what your looking for.

Thanks, but still a little confused.

1 probe on hot side should be mounted on the floor, just over the uth, correct. The other should be on the side away from the uth. Then you get a constant temp reading on each side. I understand the thermostat part, and if you are sure the thermostat works to accurate temps, then you could just take some temp readings at various intervals. Might not be explaining it right. Thanks!

You want to measure the surface temp of the substrate and the ambient temperature of the tank (Don't forget about humidity! You only need one hygrometer.). Any device that records temp can be used. I recommend a wall-mounted thermometer in combination with a digital thermometer with a sensor wire.

Thanks - to do this you mount the thermometer on the inside of the viv & place the probe on the substrate or if you mount on outside you must find a way to get the probe inside. Right?
