Thermometers

What are the best types of thermometers to use? Also earlier, i looked on a link and it said you need to measure the temperature of the ground and im wondering how to do that?

With a digital thermometer with probe.
The digital analog thermometers are way more accurate than stick ons. The probe allows you to place the thermometer probe on the surface of your tank, closest to the heating device so that you're measuring the hottest surface in your tank.

I love this one from Big Apple Herp, but I've had two out of five fail, so...It runs about $25 for the two probe temp model. So on a single viv I can have a warm and cool temp, or I can put one probe in two vivs on the heat mat like I've done with Jake/Maizey and Inez/Choco. (The other thing in the pic is my house thermostat).

I just ordered a digital min/max thermometer with a backlight from proexotics.com. It's in the clearance section, and it comes with a probe on a 6' cablefor $10.00.

When you measure the ground you are measuring at the level of the substrate, so bottom of the tank, the stick on ones work good enough for an ideal constant temp, but the probe and laser gun therms, are some of your best bets.
