Thinking of getting a second snake

What do you recommend?
I know corn snakes are amazing but im thinking something different. How are ball pythons as pets? My zoology teacher has one and its pretty sweet. I'm hoping to handle it next week.
And i'm buying this without my moms permission so its gotta be something she'll actually agree with, something that doesn't grow past like, 4-6 ft.
What else would you recomment besides corns and ball?

I have a young ball, and he's an awesome pet. Really doesn't mind being held and hanging on your arm. Definitely more docile then corns, but maybe not quite as charming ;).

Other snakes you might want to look at, children's python, sand boas, rubber boas are pretty cute. Or you could consider some reptiles with legs, like leos or crested geckos. There's many possibilities!

My recommendation:
Get mom's permission first. You don't want to have her say "Take that THING back to the pet store... NOW!" I don't want to see you post a thread that says "Yay! New snake!" Only to have 3 hours later, another thread that says "My mom made me take my snake back... why?!"
The easiest way to help her cope with you getting a new snake:
Tell her it's going to stay in your room so she'll never have to see it.

Now, once you do get her permission, if you want something different, I'd go with a Japanese rat snake. Very pretty dark green with dark blue/grey underbellies as adults (mine is in the 5.5 foot range)

I think Balls are much more likely to just hang out with you instead of picking a direction and going for it like corns do. I have a normal Ball and he's the one that I will usually take out to show people who have never come in contact with a snake before...

HOWEVER, I think you really should speak with your mother first before even thinking of getting a new snake. If you are living in her house, you should respect her opinion.

I also think it's irresponsible of you to bring an animal into a home where it may not be allowed to stay.
What will you do if your mother tells you to get rid of it?

Yeah that'll probably happen. Luckily my snakes will all be in my room i just need to find a place for a 20g tank. She doesn't mind my corn, she thinks its kinda cute which is good.

Calift thanks for your input. I also want a ball because they dont move around as much, they like to wrap around your arm so handling them is a bit easier then hadning a corn.

I'll definietly look into all your suggestions see which one would be best to get.
