This is a loaded question...;).

I like big(ger), more "substantial" snakes, so I like adults. However, I REALLY like watching them grow up, so I like hatchlings. But for color purity, juveniles/sub-adults, IMO, have the brightest and cleanest colors.

But I chose juveniles for the poll, since you specified "color"...

I chose hatchlings because I just enjoy seeing how much they change as they grow. Tiaga was an adult when we got her so I didn't get to see much change in her color. But our babies are too cool to see the color changes. I just purchased a juvie anery so I'm waiting to see how much change I'll see in him. Great poll. Thanks!

I was expecting a mix between the three. I figured people have their reasons, I voted juvinile because I too like that clean nice look. I also could see why you would pick adult or hatcling too. Lets keep this going.

I love all ages of snakes, it's very hard to pick out the best age/size regardless of color or morph. I've purchased all ages in the past and will again in the future I'm sure.

On the other hand, I do prefer to get hatchlings because I can watch them grow, see the color development, and have a hand in taming them down from the flighty-bitey (or musky) stage. It also allows me to learn their personalities and take loads of pictures. And for me, there is nothing better then going back to that first arrival pic and comparing it to the latest picture after the most recent shed. Unless of course, it's a spectaculr head shot with tongue! lmao

For color, it has to be juveniles as corns are at their most colorful at that stage, IMO.

i picked adults for a couple reasons, easier to keep track of, when they escape its easier to find a 5 foot snake instaed of a 2 footer, then color is settled, and doesn't change, and they are easier to manage, i love wearing my full grown ghost around my neck, however the smaller ones are to small to anchor around my neck, and they tend to want to get away more.

Those are some real valid points there Randy, and I totally agree with them. This is what I was hoping for, a nice discusion.

uh-oh we have the devils number, someone vote. :grin01:
:-offtopic Actually, the number 666 as being associated as the mark of the devil is strictly Hollywood fantasy, created by the writer(s) of The Omen. Yes, the Bible mentions a mark of the devil, but it never says exactly what it is.

Oh I know that, and I'm not that superstitious either. Just a little hee hee, oh no kind of thing. Sorry if this sounds snoby, isn't really.

Well as I am apt to do, I voted before reading the rest of the posts . . . don't want my vote to be polluted so-to-speak. Soooo, I chose adults . . . I think I'll stick with adults even after getting the color clarification. Hatchlings are cute and fun, juvies/yearlings are definitely the most striking appearance-wise, but there's just something to be said about the adults in the collection that you have raised from and through those previous stages. It's a distinguished look and coloration, a there's a story there, an air of importance, of comfortableness . . . kinda like that old ratty armchair your grandpa always used.

Lol that's a great comparison. Yeah that is another thing about the adults, the distinguished look and coloration.

I chose hatchlings. You get to raise them, watch their colors mature with them and you get to know their personalities as well. Like watching my ghost grow up.. as a hatchling he was pale lavenderish in color, just a touch of yellow on his face. As he's gotten older, he had turned more coppery in color along his saddles and the yellow extends down his sides almost to the middle of his body. And he is really laid back and mellow. :D
