This shed is not going smoothly.

So Benji is shedding right now. It's midnight and I heard him rustling about so I decided to check on him. He had his head shed already so I assumed it was alright. Unfortunately he's struggling to get the rest off, and he tore the top section of his face shed so it's not going to peel off all in once piece, that's for sure. It's been about 10 minutes and he's still only god his head done. He's also been hanging his jaw open from time to time.
Should I put him in a container with some moist paper towels? He keeps stopping as if he's exhausted. I think he's been at it longer than I've known about it.

Thanks to the "what to do" shed thread in the health problems section, Benji has completed his shed. It also cleared up a bit of a constipation problem he seemed to have. He's now trying out his smooth moves on a plastic vine.

Now I have another shed-related issue, though. He keeps retaining some shed on the top of his head and it never comes off. This has happened for the past few sheds and he's still got a piece on his head. Even the shed help he had yesterday didn't fix this problem. I keep hoping that the new shed will take it off but it's always there. What can I do?

Does he have a humid hide with damp moss in it? I'd give him that. And I might start putting a drop of lotion right on the bad spot next time he goes blue, and just keep it moisturized.

No I don't actually. I was thinking it would be a good idea, though, after seeing those exo-terra snake caves with the removable tops that come with moss. Would one of those be suitable?

You can get one of those, or make your own by cutting a hole in the side and the lid of a small "take and toss" container.

If you have room put it in the middle between the warm and the cool hides. You can put it anywhere really, but if you put it towards the warm end the moss will dry out faster.
