Thread previewing?

I know your under the weather right now Rich~ but this is not some big important kind of thing you need to worry about~ just when you get around to it if you could give me a clue I'd appreciate it~ or if someone else knows the answer please let me know.

I've been frequenting a homesteading site with a similar look to the set up to CS and Fauna. At that site when I hover my curser over a thread title in a forum it gives me a little preview of whats in the thread~ about a paragraphs worth of the first post in the thread. This is really great with my unreliable internet connection because it apparently sends all those little previews with the first opening of the page rather than every time I select a thread. This stupid connection I have now~ sometimes if I select a thread here or at Fauna I want to view I have to wait several minutes for the page to send through just to see if I want to read the thread or not. The little one paragraph preview helps me decide if I want to wait for the actual post/thread to load or not.

Is that option available here? Is it somewhere in the user CP that I can set it to let me view the first paragraph of a thread without clicking into it and waiting for the whole thing to load?

It is an option in the admin section that I chose not to enable. For a couple of reasons..... (1) It adds a lot of overhead to the page download from the server, since the text for those previews have to be downloaded along with the forum thread display, so it can affect bandwidth and loading on the server. And (2) I personally don't like it. I feel like those pop up text displays are always getting in my way when I am moving the cursor on the screen across a list of threads.

Bummer~ I was hoping it was something I could set on my end. Oh well~ thanks for letting me know~ I'll stop trying to figure out how to do it now!
