Time between feeds

Pinklady

Drake and Odin
Hi

We have had the snakes for 2 weeks now and seem to be getting on well!
They have fed on a pinky each every 4 days since we got them.

Unfortunately this cuts down handling time cos we leave them alone for 48 hours after feeding before handling again.

Last night I gave them 2 pinkys each which they ate...........fast.

Do you think it's ok to leave them a week before feeding them again?

I like the idea of feeding a larger meal once a week which gives us 5 days to handle them, but don't want them to be hungry!

Two pinkies every 7 days is perfect.

Once the snake has successfully mastered the 2 course meal for a a month or so, I'd move on up to a single larger prey item. The quicker you can get them onto more developed prey, the better. :)

Thanks for your replies.
Being new to snakes I want to get it right!

This forum is excellent for finding out things you don't always find in books.
In the two weeks we have had the little guys we have had Odin have a perfect shed. The site let me find out how long it may take from being blue eyed to shedding. I expected it to take 4-7 days from the posts I had read. I got up on day 4 to find a skin in the tank. I had also worried he looked miserable before he became cloudy eyed but cos of this site I figured he was getting ready to shed, and not surprisingly thats exactly what happened.
:)
