Time expectancy of hatchling feces

Hey guys, so I was wondering how long it takes for a hatchling to expel the left-over remains of the pinky that it digested. I fed Aries on 5/03 and she only ate a pinky head. I've been looking all over for feces in her substrate, but I don't see any. I don't really know how long it takes a hatchling to digest a meal and excrete it out of its body, but I'm assuming that a pinky head shouldn't take much time. So, should I be worried?

Alright. Thanks so much for the reply Nanci! =) So, would it be ok to feed Aries within 2 days time? Even though I haven't seen Aries pass any fecal matter?

I feed the younger snakes every five days, until they are 200g. I wouldn't go any more frequent than that. You never get to handle your snake if you do! I'm very conservative, though, I give them three days to digest instead of the more customary two. OTOH I don't think it hurts the babies to be fed every seven days; they just won't grow as quickly as those that are fed on a five day schedule.

About poo- I don't ever look for poo. Once the snakes are on fuzzies, or maybe hoppers, the poo gets easier to find, and I pick it out when I see it, and lift up hides to look for it, but I am not watching the snake to make sure it poops out every meal. I just got a new baby about a month ago- perhaps the most valuable baby I have had yet. I don't look for his poo, either, because I just assume that if he is eating and growing and shedding, he's also pooping! If I see it, yes, I pick it out. But I can't recall seeing any yet...

The only time I look for poo is when I'm spot cleaning. Sometimes they will hold on to it when they are going into blue and give you a nice big one after they shed.

You may not see a poo'd out pinkies head. There may not be any waste because the meal is so small. As Nanci and Eli have mentioned, do not get worried about the lack of poo. It will happen, because if you keep putting it in, eventually, it will come out.

Good Luck,

Wayne

Yay! I found her poo! I find it interesting though. It took her a day longer to expel her feces than my 1 yr old. (Arshess takes 3 days on a small adult mouse.) I was under the impression that hatchlings had a fast metabolism rate. I'm guessing it's cause Aries stayed in the cool side of the tank more. Well, whatever. At least she pooped. Now I don't really have to worry as much about her digestive system. Thanks guys for all your advise! I really appreciate it! =)

I think it's time for

That's just funny as hell!! Right now, my wife thinks I am nuts, because I am on the verge of passing out from laughter! I can't catch my breath!
