To much heat?

Hey guys! So I have my corn juvenile in a 20g tank with an appropriately sized UTH on the bottom, I use a light during the day but it doesn't provide any heat it's mainly for viewing and to replicate daylight and whatnot. I recently got 2 probe thermometers and the one over the heating pad has been reading 92 while the one on the cold side is reading 74. I'm worried 92 is to hot but I don't know what to do since the UTH heater id's supposed to be for 10-20g tanks. I don't want our little guy to burn. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for the help!

heating elements should be used with a thermostat, some heating pads can get up well over 100 or more. Get a digital thermostat or manual rheostat to regulate it.

Heat pad on the outside bottom of tank, the thermostat probe goes on the inside of the tank on the bottom in the middle of where the mat is. you can either use a heavy rock or something that can't be moved to hold in into place or use hot glue for a more permanent fix for the probe.

Thank you for your response. My thermometer is set up correctly but I was considering getting a rheostat but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my money.

Can to much heat cause a corn to be canky?

Not sure about making them cranky, but if it's too hot they will avoid the area. Not having a way to regulate my body temperature sure would make me a bit cranky, so maybe..

When you get your rheostat have the probe that is attached to that next to the one from your thermometer, same deal on it.

Thanks for your help. He didn't seem to have to much of a problem with avoiding the area but I'm still going to adjust the heat to make it more comfrtable. He's just been super unhappy and he's been burrowed now for 24 hours. He ate really well but I don't know I'm parinoid, but we've only had this guy a week so he's probably still adjusting.

Down at the bottom near the heating pad it was 103 so we now have a Zilla heat regulator and the temperature is already dropped from 103 to 91 and is still dropping to reach the temp I set at 84! Thanks for all your help!
