hi all.

Tomorrow i collect a proven breeding pair of corns, they have always been housed together in the same viv.

I hope (with a little luck) to breed them this year, now , i am think i should split them up for a month before re-introduction, what do you guys think?

come on guys, i am looking for a little help here, would i be doing the right thing splitting them up for a while???

Personally I think that they never should have been housed together the first place, and if you seperate them that would be the very first step in their new better life with you.

thank you my friend, i am an avid believer in 1 snake per viv, i just wanted reasurance that splitting them wouldnt cause distress....

It might cause distress temporarily, just because it is different. But in the long run it is much better.
(You already knew it I think, you were just waiting for someone else to say so! :) )

The decrease in stress levels even for a month, could make for a better chance at having a nice healthy clutch.

thanks guys, i have seperate vivs already lined up for them, like i said, i was just after some re-asurance...

THANK YOU.

Separating an established pair can cause stress in itself, as it requires them to make an adjustment to their behaviour and some Corns are less adaptable than others (I've experienced this).

However, I think separating them at a point where they're already undergoing a major move to a new home, is probably the best time to do it. You don't want them to get settled down together, then split them up again in a few months and have the potential trauma all over again. Doing it now, the split is just part of the settling in process. Hopefully you won't see any problems at all.

both corns are huge, they are an amel female and a ghost male, both well over 4 feet in length.
both in individual vivs
