I'm starting to get concerned. It's hot in my house usually between 87 and 90 degrees. My baby snake's thermostat got up to 89 today! How do I cool him off and keep him from overheating during the hotter months?
Since your house is so warm, I would try a fan to circulate air. Blow it across, not into the enclosure. This should help, but may not be a cure all. Is the AC not working?
We don't have AC. Is there anything I can do in an emergency if it gets too hot? Like maybe a coldpac near the cage or something? I really don't want him to overheat.
Ice pack in front of the fan. Let it blow across the ice pack and across the cage, Nanci mentioned lowering your cage to the floor. Do it, heat rises. You'll be changing cold packs out often, so keep a supply on hand. Offering cool water will help the snake, but not iced water it could cause a radical lowering of his body temp.
Get a $100 window unit from home depot or give it to some one who can properly care for it. The snake needs a good temp gradiant. Cold on one side and warm on the other, not just hot. Place the cold pack under one side of the cage til you can figure some thing out.
