Transporting an established viv + snake

Hi All (again)

As per my previous message I am thinking of getting this 'second hand' corn. It is in a well established viv. To transport it are we best just putting the whole lot in the car, snake and all or putting the snake into a separate container.

We only live about 5-10 minutes drive from where we'd be picking him up from.

Cheers

I agree with ratsncorns, also be sure that nothing is going to move and injure him like if there's a branch in there you would want to remove that.

I personally would remove the snake from it's tank. I would never transport any animal in its daytoday home (a rabbit in its hutch, etc), but that's just my personal preference.

I would always be worried something would happen (you might have to brake hard suddenly, there might be speed bumps, that sort of thing...) and I always feel that a large viv or hutch, whatever it is, would move around a lot. IMO putting the animal in a small container is much better.

But like I said, that's just me.

I always transport my snakes in a pillowcase (made of thick, but breathable material). Less stressfull for the animal that way. I always take a passenger (9 times out of 10 it's the wife) to hold the pillowcase(s). Less likely to get thrown about if I have to brake sharply that way.

If I hit a tree head-on at 60 the snakes become the least of my worries ....

So, in short, I'd separate.

:)
