ok well i have to lose 20 pound so my parents will get me a corn and i am going sooooo slo i cant stop thinking about it been tow wks and lost 5:headbang:

Well at least your motivated!
But keep in mind you can't force yourself to lose weight and PLEASE do not starve yourself.

Also not to be a downer, but if you've got a slow metabolism it might be harder/take longer to lose it, just stay dedicated.

You're doing fine, I think 2.5 pounds a week is pretty good. At that rate it will be less than 2 months 'til snake.

Edit: that's probably about as "miscellaneous corn snake discussions" as it gets.

The proven way to lose weight is count calories! It's pretty easy to find an on-line calculator to find out how many you need to eat in a day to lose weight. Then just do it. Exercising even as little as 20-30 minutes a day will REALLY help, too. I'm eating a low-sodium diet right now, which is inherantly low calorie. You might try that! And eat lots of small meals- get off the three meals a day thing if you can. Lowfat vanilla yogurt with fruit in it makes a great morning snack, and they make all kinds of chips, like apple and sweet potato that are low calorie but still satisfyingly crunchy. A good breakfast would be oatmeal with a hard-boiled egg, with milk, with a banana if you're hungry enough to eat all that. The protein makes you feel full longer. Look at the DASH diet for a good idea of how much of what to eat in a day. Good luck!

Tried by my sister with amazing results! It was odd for her at first, sometimes she had to eat when she didn't feel she needed it. She was monitored by her doc and a nutritionist.

Well good for you - and good for your parents. Sounds like you win both ways - you get fitter AND you get a Corn!

Fewer calories, more exercise. It's not magic and it's not fast, but 2.5 pounds a week is a sensible rate of loss to maintain. Go you!!

hmm..lose weight...get a snake...wow...thank you!! I think I just found my motivation to lose the weight I've been trying to..I'll reward myself with a new snake :0) heheheh...

Best of luck on your goal

I may get a new corn without losing the 20 lbs I so desperately need to lose..lol

There's an ad on our incompany computer of a guy giving away a corn snake. I've been wanting to get another for awhile(4 just isn't enough I guess) and I saw this ad at work last night. I'm calling today to see what morph and all the info he has on it as far as feeding, how he kept it and age.

Keep up the good work and don't forget to keep at the diet and maintain the weight even after you get your corn.!

it took me about 4 months to talk them into the snake cuz at first they said all i could get was a gecko:headbang:

I think it's great that your parents are inspiring you to lose weight with the added incentive of a new snake, but just a quick word of caution. "Dieting" at your age can cause many problems down the road. Your body is still growing, and you're just one year into laying down your lifetime bone density. Be sure you're getting all the protien, calcium, iron and folic acid your body needs. 2.5 lbs a week loss is pretty substantial for a person your age. Maybe your mom could schedule an appointment with your physician or better yet, a dietician. Together you can work out a plan for a healthy lifestyle change. Getting a snake is awesome. Being healthy for your entire lifetime is even more awesome! Best of luck.

Sounds like a plan. I will lose x amount before I am allowing myself another snake. (Besides the one I just put a down payment on three days ago! LOL)

Good luck and be smart about it. I know...I used to be anorexic from starving myself. Well, you certainly cannot live life like that and when you start eating again, even if its healthy food you still put all the weight back. So be smart! =)

My oldest has lost 50 pounds in the last year, just by watching the calories, and especially the fat content on the labels of everything he eats. He will be 17 this month, he is 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and he's about 250 right now. But now he's football solid..lol...he bikes regulary everyday, and monitors everything he eats ( drives me nuts sometimes..lol ). I buy him low calorie foods, and low fat everything  He still eats me out of house and home..lol And he always allows himself treats.

It just takes time and patience...don't rush...;)
